Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants announced it has appointed a new tax specialist to its South West division.

Chartered tax adviser Ian Pring will join the firm as a partner, and work from the firm’s “fast-growing” Plymouth office.

Pring will join Thomas Westcott after a 30-year career at PKF Francis Clark, where he lead the firm’s property and wealth teams in Plymouth.

Pring also spent six years working for the HMRC, and brings with him a “specialist knowledge” of property taxes, such as Stamp Duty Land Tax, and family business succession planning.

Thomas Westcott managing partner, Shona Godefroy, said: “Ian is extremely well-regarded and well-connected in Plymouth and joins Thomas Westcott at a very exciting time, as we continue to grow and develop our offering to clients.

“His appointment significantly enhances our specialist tax service to all clients, while supporting our growth in Plymouth. He brings an impressive breadth of knowledge and a wealth of experience and shares our ethos of offering outstanding, highly-customised client service.”

Pring said: “After 30 years in my previous role, I was ready for a new challenge and was attracted by Thomas Westcott’s approach of offering a very personal, face-to-face service.

“I am particularly looking forward to working with businesses in Plymouth and building on the firm’s existing relationships to help Thomas Westcott expand in my home city and across the region.”

Pring’s appointment follows a series of strategic developments at the firm, which has the largest network of accountancy offices in the South West.
