PKF Smith Cooper provides a variety of accountancy and financial services to its many clients from various sectors of business, including the hospitality and engineering sectors. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Accounts and audit work – including compliance services, management accounting, internal and external auditing, and forensic accounting into fraudulent financial activity and misrepresentation
  • Tax services – including work relating to corporate tax, personal tax, VAT and indirect tax, and employment tax
  • Outsourcing services – including HR consultancy, payroll services, IT support, management accounting and bookkeeping services
  • Business recovery and insolvency services – services are available to clients who are creditors, directors, shareholders, solvent entities and individuals with debt problems

Financials

For the financial years ended 31 March 2024, PKF Smith Cooper has not to disclose its profit and loss account as part of an audit, so any definitive financial results are unavailable.

However, the firm saw its group revenue increase by 25% to £19m and profits were up from 2019. This emphasises the company’s exponential growth prior to the pandemic.

Recently, PKF Smith Cooper has appointed Claire Spencer as its new corporate finance partner, bringing 25 years of expertise in mid-market transactions, private equity, and cross-border deals across various sectors, with notable achievements including advising on private equity investor RJD Partners’ exit from Midlands-based engineering firm Survey Solutions, as she aims to contribute to the firm’s ambitious growth strategy and enhance its market presence in both the Midlands and the UK.

The firm has also appointed Jack Bonehill as employment tax director and Sam Parker-Hully as capital allowances director, each bringing extensive experience in their respective fields and aiming to enhance the firm’s credentials in capital allowances and employment tax services, contributing to the firm’s growth plans and reinforcing its position in the Midlands market.

Earlier in April, the firm acquired West Midlands insolvency boutique BLB Advisory Limited, adding nearly 30 years of experience led by Brett Barton and his team to its Business Recovery and Restructuring division, expanding its reach with three new office locations and strengthening its capabilities in providing insolvency and recovery solutions across various sectors in the Midlands.

In February, it led an employee ownership trust’s acquisition of a controlling stake in the holding company of a Birmingham-based IT solutions provider, Port-P, in their second EOT transaction within the technology sector in three months, with tax partner Adam Rollason providing crucial tax structuring advice and sell-side tax support to the selling shareholders.

In January, the firm appointed Ruth Morris as a senior corporate tax manager, leveraging her 30 years of experience in audit, accountancy, and corporate tax to strengthen the firm’s tax division by managing compliance processes, advising clients, and supporting their business objectives.
