Background Summary

Established in London in 1925, UHY Hacker Young is a founding member of UHY International, a global network of accountancy firms, and has 325 offices which are located in 100 countries across the globe. Recently, the group’s London office has expanded its operations and launched business desks for Israel, the Nordic countries, Germany, Malaysia, Russia and India.

In the UK, the firm has locations in London, Nottingham, Manchester, Abergavenny, Ashford, Birmingham, Brighton. In Belfast the firm is known as UHY Hacker Young Fitch, while in York it is famous as UHY Calvert Smith.

In 2023, UHY welcomed Leeds-based accountancy firm BPR Heaton to the UK Group, now rebranded as UHY BPR Heaton. This expanded our network in the West Yorkshire region of England, taking our total number of offices to 24. The firm brings with it five partners and 35 team members.

Financials

According to the latest financial reports from UHY, the group’s revenues hit £74m for the year ending 30 April 2023, a 17.3% increase compared to FY22.

Over the period, UHY employed 858 people, of which 73 are partners. Revenue per partner throughout the year amounted to £1m.

Recent Coverage

Recently, UHY Hacker Young Manchester has been shortlisted twice at the Insider North West Young Professional Awards, with audit assistant manager Holly Davies nominated for ‘Young Accountant of the Year’ and accounts and business advisory senior Cael Ogden for ‘Young Apprentice of the Year’, with Ogden being ‘Highly Commended’ in his category for his contributions to the firm.

In February, UHY Manchester’s corporate finance team doubled in size, now comprising eight members, surpassing their growth targets by 15% under the leadership of CEO David Kendrick, with plans to sustain and expand this growth trajectory over the next five years through investment in new technologies, training programs, and office facilities, as well as advising on 17 deals totalling £200m in 2023.

In the same month, UHY Hacker Young revealed plans to double its team size over the next five years, with increased investment in technology, training programs, and office expansion, as it currently tracks 15% ahead of its growth target, having grown by over 20% in the last year and now employing over 150 staff.

In addition, the firm’s specialist automotive team facilitated the sale of Ashford Orbital Limited to JCB Group, adding to JCB’s recent acquisition of Tunbridge Wells Volkswagen and expanding their presence in the south east, with David Kendrick managing the deal.

In September 2023, UHY Hacker Young Manchester has been nominated twice at the Insider North West Dealmakers Awards, with its corporate finance team up for the Mid-Market Corporate Finance Team of the Year award and CEO David Kendrick in the running for Dealmaker of the Year, acknowledging their successful conclusion of 15 deals worth over £350m, with the ceremony set for October 12th at Manchester Central.
