Workington-based Robinson+co has announced the acquisition of local firm DHC Accounting Limited in Lillyhall, with the transaction due to reach completion on 1 April.

Robinson+co, which has offices across West Cumbria and almost 30 professionals, has a portfolio of clients located all over the country that have used the firm for more than nine decades.

DHC has enjoyed a strong accounting presence in Lillyhall under the leadership of Tony Briscoe since 2002, with a particular specialism in furnished holiday lets.

The acquired firm employs a team of six and has worked with well over 1,000 clients and businesses.

Peter Ellwood, managing partner of Robinson+co, said: “Embracing change and growth is at the heart of Robinson+co. As Tony and his wife Alison embark on a well-deserved retirement journey, we warmly welcome all existing DHC staff to our dynamic team.

“With the integration of DHC Accounting, we’re not just expanding our footprint, but enriching our capabilities and commitment to our clients and communities. Together, we’re ready to shape the future of accounting excellence in West Cumbria and beyond.”

He added: “Operations will transfer to our Workington office, and we are excited to expand our offering and strengthen our presence along the West Coast of Cumbria. We’d like to wish Tony and Alison a happy retirement and all the best for the future.”

Tony Briscoe, MD of DHC Accounting Limited, said: “Robinson+co are a very well-respected firm with several offices in West Cumbria. As a larger practice, they will be able to offer a great deal more experience and expertise, and I am sure they will serve all clients well.

“I am looking forward to retirement, knowing all existing clients will be well looked after.”

Following the transfer, all staff and operations will relocate to Robinson+co’s offices on New Oxford Street, Workington, from 1 April.
