It will ‘pave the way’ for future government legislation, making tax digital for income tax self assessment, affecting 4.2m British taxpayers in the coming years.

Xero has announced it is to become Azets preferred accounting solution for small to medium sized business clients.

Azets has partnered with global small business platform Xero to support future plans regarding its small to medium-sized business clients.

By combining Xero’s accounting software, with the firm’s advisory expertise, Azets said it will provide businesses with “even greater” support and information.

It will also “pave the way” for future government legislation, making tax digital for income tax self assessment, affecting 4.2m British taxpayers in the coming years.

As well as ensuring compliance, Azets also said this partnership will help make the process of reporting more efficient for the accounting firm in the future.

Fraser Campbell, UK head of accounting and business advisory services at Azets, said: “Xero is a market leader in cloud accounting software for SMEs and fully aligns with Azets SME market focus. As with Azets, Xero aims to make life better every day for SMEs.

“We share an ambition to help our clients to make better decisions, supported by our advisors using the best technology. We see that businesses who use integrated cloud software AND receive advice from an accountant are more successful.”

Alex von Schirmeister, managing director UK and EMEA at Xero, added: “Accountants are the unsung heroes of small business prosperity and the value they provide is second to none. So we’re thrilled to be teaming up with Azets at such a critical time for the industry.

“As the government’s digital tax agenda gathers pace, Azets is a great example of a firm leading from the front in ensuring our business economy is set up for success.”
