Beresfords Chartered Certified Accountants has announced it has merged with Hillgroves accountants.

Established in 1958, Beresfords, one of the longest standing accountants in the Folkestone area, continues to grow and is now one of the largest in the area.

As of 1 April 2022, Hillgroves Accountancy Ltd has become part of Beresfords Chartered Certified accountants. As such the firm has now gone from four partners to a five-partner firm consisting of:

  • Phillip Hindle – Hindle has been at Beresfords since 1986 and was appointed partner in 2001. He works closely with clients on their audits, advising on their corporate and personal tax planning, as well as business sales and acquisition including helping to raise finance for commercial transactions.
  • Dan Payne – Payne joined Beresfords in 2004 having worked as a client manager for a large portfolio of clients he became a partner in 2020.
  • Chris Dodd – Dodd became a fully qualified accountant with the ACCA in 2003 and became a partner at Beresfords in 2020.
  • Mark Minus – Minus joined Beresfords in December 2021 and has over 30 years’ experience in the profession and looks after a diverse portfolio of clients consisting of owner managed businesses ranging from start-ups to medium sized groups.
  • Julian Glenister – Glenister qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984, having trained with a Top 20 firm. He then worked out in industry for three years, before returning to professional practice, having been a partner in a medium-sized firm of chartered accountants for 15 years, until 2013 when he set up his own accountancy practice, Hillgroves Accountancy Limited. As of 1 April 2022, he is the latest partner of Beresfords.

Beresfords has seen over 40% growth in the last 12 months after several new roles were created during 2021 and the acquisition of the Canterbury Small business department of MHA Macintyre Hudson that took place in December 2021.

Hindle said: “Our two firms are closely aligned, and this was a natural progression for both firms to join forces and add to the excellent work the team at Hillgroves Accountancy Ltd have developed to date, we look forward to working with Julian and his team in the future. This will be another exciting step forward for Beresfords and continues to maintain the steady growth we have seen to date.”
