Alvarez and Marsal has launched a reputation advisory practice led by managing director Rob Mindell to provide strategic communications and crisis counsel across the EMEA region.
The new London-based team will work alongside the firm’s existing restructuring, disputes, and transactions practices to manage stakeholder engagement during periods of corporate transition.
Mindell joins the firm from FTI Consulting, where he co-led the London crisis and disputes practice.
The specialised unit is designed to mitigate reputational risk in high-stakes environments where public and stakeholder perceptions impact financial outcomes.
The launch follows increased market demand for integrated communications support during complex operational turnarounds and M&A activity.
The practice includes a group of senior advisers with backgrounds in journalism, government, and corporate affairs.
New hires include Balihar Khalsa, formerly of ITN, and Rupert Bhatia, previously with the BBC and LBC, Monique Kilpatrick, previously at communications advisory firm Kekst CNC and Danny Read, former senior communications manager at global FTSE 250-listed alternative asset manager Man Group.
The team is further supported by senior advisers Oliver Shah, former associate editor at The Sunday Times, and Matt Warman, a former UK government minister.
These appointments provide the firm with technical expertise in public policy, financial media, and digital technology.
The practice intends to provide precise messaging and issues management for FTSE 250 companies and global financial institutions.
Managing director and head of A&M EMEA Antonio Alvarez III noted that the investment in strategic communications strengthens the firm’s integrated service offering.
The practice will focus on transparency of information and clear communication as critical components of strategic turnarounds.
Mindell said: “A&M’s reputation advisory practice preserves and enhances value in situations where perceptions can change outcomes for an organisation. These client mandates require communications planned with intelligence and delivered at pace, making A&M’s operational heritage the home for our new offering.”
Alvarez III added: “Whether working on a strategic turnaround or transactions, clear communication and transparency of information are critical to what we do. Welcoming Rob and his team of advisers is a strategic investment in A&M’s growth. Their expertise strengthens our integrated offering.”
