UHY Hacker Young has announced the appointment of Nick Varley as a senior manager in its Sheffield office, strengthening the team with more than 40 years of experience in the regional accountancy market.

Varley has worked with owner-managed businesses, entrepreneurs and organisations across a range of sectors throughout his career. His background spans companies, sole traders, partnerships and charities, with a long-standing focus on practical, relationship-led client work.

He became a partner at the age of 30 and later held senior roles at two large firms of chartered accountants. He also spent 15 years running his own practice, building a reputation in South Yorkshire for commercial insight and involvement in local business networks.

Andrew Hulse, managing partner at UHY’s Sheffield office, said: “We’re excited to welcome Nick. His reputation and experience in the South Yorkshire market speak for themselves, and we believe he’ll make a significant contribution to our work here in Sheffield.”

Varley added: “I’m excited to be joining UHY Hacker Young in Sheffield and taking on the challenge ahead. This is a great opportunity to bring my experience to a forward-thinking firm and help drive the next stage of its growth.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team and making a positive impact for our clients in South Yorkshire and beyond.”
