RSM UK has named David Shambrook as a partner in its London office, focusing on corporate restructuring. Shambrook, with 18 years of restructuring experience, previously worked at FRP, specialising in financial and operational stress situations. He aims to enhance RSM’s corporate restructuring practice and strengthen relationships with banks and other stakeholders, particularly in challenging economic climates.

BKL has finalised a merger with CFPro Ltd, a commercial finance consultancy, forming a team of over 250 people, including 25 partners. CFPro specialises in strategic support for high-growth businesses, covering areas like acquisitions, IPOs, and corporate governance. The combined entity will continue trading under the CFPro name, marking BKL’s continued growth, including the earlier merger with Landau Baker and recent partner appointments.

Hentons has relocated its Sheffield office to a larger space in the city centre, consolidating accounts, payroll, and corporate finance teams. The move aligns with Hentons’ growth strategy, providing enhanced client services and fostering teamwork. The new office, at Dearing House, offers additional meeting spaces and open-plan working areas, emphasising accessibility for clients and employees.

A study commissioned by AccountsIQ reveals that over half (54%) of young accountants in the UK intentionally take time off during busy work periods. Among them, 21% fake illness, with 44% admitting to calling in sick instead of using annual leave. Frustration with high expectations (41%) and lack of recognition (39%) contribute to absenteeism. A lack of time, resources, and excessive manual reporting also impacts morale, emphasising the need for modern tools and attention to the well-being of young finance professionals.
