A senior accountant at Dodd and Co, Tony Ferguson, has been appointed as the new chair of the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants (CSCA).
The CSCA is part of the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants, which represents 4,000 Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) members and ACA students working in business and finance across the Northeast of England, Teesside, Northern Yorkshire, and Cumbria.
Ferguson has been with Dodd and Co since 2005, initially joining the tax team before moving into accounts. He now heads up the firm’s small business start-up team.
He said he is now “eager to work” with the ICAEW and has lots of ideas for both its professional members and also for those currently studying towards full membership.
He is also “keen” to promote Cumbria as a great place to work and will be “looking to forge links between members and host events which encourage the retention of talent within the area”.
He said: “I am honoured to have been selected as the new Chair of the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants and I am really looking forward to contributing to the society’s work and working with my colleagues and members to support the accountancy profession in our region.”
Alison Johnston, staff partner with Dodd and Co added: “We are extremely proud of Tony’s appointment and have no doubt he will make an excellent Chair. We look forward to supporting him with his role and seeing him work with others within the Society to further develop and support the profession in our region.”
