Grant Thornton appoints two partners to launch Economic Consulting practice

Grant Thornton UK LLP has appointed Schellion Horn and Chris Williams as partners to lead the development of the firm’s new Economic Consulting practice. Horn joins the firm as partner with over 20 years’ experience as a competition economist assisting corporate clients, government, private equity and their legal advisors in the UK and internationally. The firm said her experience includes large scale market investigations, subsidy control, regulatory enquiries and competition damages in an advisory and expert witness capacity. She has a “keen focus” on working with clients in the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), infrastructure, and health and life care sciences sectors. Williams also joins the firm as Partner, with previous experience in leading Economic Consulting functions at other large accountancy and consulting firms. GT added he has “considerable experience” as an economic expert witness, providing testimony in relation to the High Court, international arbitrations and competition courts in numerous countries. He also leads economic advisory work across the economy, with notable experience in the financial services, TMT, and consumer sectors. The pair will be driving the development of the firm’s new Economic Consulting practice, which aims to provide “expert” micro-economic advice across a number of areas including: the legal market, acting as expert witnesses in High Court disputes, international arbitration hearings and competition matters; the public sector consulting market, providing advice across policy, investment and financing; and the private sector, advising on the application of analytical economic approaches within corporate strategy, M&A, valuations and restructuring. Horn said: “I am really excited to be joining Grant Thornton and to be working with Chris to build a new Economics Consulting practice at the firm. The scope of the practice will be far reaching, and we look forward to both leading new economic advisory work and also working closely with colleagues from across the firm to enhance existing offerings with economics solutions and advice. “The offering should add a new dimension to the firm’s service offerings and support the firm’s client base on a much broader scale.” Williams added: “We’re really excited to get started on developing a leading Economics Consulting offering. Schellion and I have extensive experience across key sectors of the economy and will be focused on providing expert modelling and economics support to a varied client base, from law firms to public sector organisations. “The collaborative nature within Grant Thornton is evident and we’re really excited to be joining a firm with such a focus on inclusion and supporting its people.
