Accountancy and advisory firm BDO is set to recruit a “record” number of trainees to its Midland office next year.

The 54 new roles will be based across the companies Birmingham and Nottingham firms and will offer positions in its apprenticeship, graduate, summer intern and summer school departments.

Earlier this week it was reported that BDO opened applications for over 600 new roles across 17 firms.

The new roles include 18 apprenticeships and 38 graduate positions.

The announcement follows the promotion of 95 BDO employees across its Midlands branches.

Head of BDO in the Midlands and partner Richard Rose, said: “We’re proud to attract dynamic and forward-thinking trainees who share our ambitions and will become ‘advisers of the future’.

“The accountancy profession has long been an advocate of apprenticeships. BDO wants to see the government continue to support this route into work and reform the Ofsted assessment system to increase the number and quality of apprenticeship places on offer – this in turn will help address the UK skills and productivity gap.”
