Professional services group S&W has appointed Chris Vaulks as a partner in its audit practice, based in Newcastle.
Vaulks joins from KPMG, where he worked for 18 years and was an audit engagement lead.
He rose to senior director within the firm’s north audit practice, working across Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester, and led audits for large private companies and FTSE AIM 50 businesses in the technology, construction and manufacturing sectors.
In 2017, Vaulks was named North East Accountant of the Year at the North East Accountancy Awards.
He is also a fellow chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Vaulks said: “I’m delighted to join S&W at such an exciting time following the recent investment from Apax Partners. As the fastest-growing UK top ten accountancy firm, there is a real sense of drive and ambition alongside a clear commitment to Newcastle and the north. I’m looking forward to bringing my skills and experience to support and grow our audit practice in a region I am passionate about.”
Donna Bulmer, regional managing partner at S&W, added: “Chris’ insights and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to execute our regional growth strategy and strengthen our position in the market.”
Mark Bishop, head of audit and assurance, concluded: “His deep sector expertise, particularly across technology, construction and manufacturing, combined with his leadership experience, will be instrumental as we continue to grow our audit practice. Chris’s appointment reflects our commitment to investing in top talent and strengthening our presence across the north.”
