BDO has enhanced its East Midlands team with the appointment of tax partner Steve Round. Returning to BDO after a stint at Cooper Parry, Round specialises in transaction tax, focusing on owner-managed businesses, shareholders, and private equity-backed firms. Managing a diverse client portfolio spanning technology, professional services, manufacturing, business services, and real estate, Round aims to contribute to the growth of BDO’s tax and corporate finance teams in the region.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has urged the UK government to prioritise policies fostering long-term economic growth through increased productivity. CIMA’s budget submission proposes initiatives such as a productivity strategy, reforms to the Apprenticeship Levy, addressing fiscal drag, improved productivity measurement in the public sector, and the creation of an SME Investment ISA. CIMA emphasises the need to lift the UK out of its productivity slump, enhance economic growth, and create a sustainable strategy.
