EY has named Laura Mair as the UK&I managing partner for Tax and Law, succeeding Jeff Soar. With over two decades of leadership at EY, Mair will lead a team of 2,500 professionals. Underlining EY’s tax growth, she aims to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape and technology’s role. During Soar’s tenure, EY’s UK Tax and Law practice achieved two years of double-digit revenue growth.

Cykel AI, specialising in Natural Language Processing technology, has raised £1.75m in its Aquis Stock Exchange listing, advised by Kreston Reeves. The IPO exceeded expectations, reflecting the demand for Cykel AI’s AI technologies transforming business processes. Kreston Reeves, previously advising Majestic Corporation, continues to support businesses through listings and mergers.

PwC has appointed Helen Ward as Midlands deals leader, succeeding Matthew Hammond. Ward, with a career at PwC since 1996, will focus on financial due diligence for corporate and private equity clients. She aims to build the deals practise in the region, supporting local businesses and national clients, emphasising talent development and diversity.

Insolvency and corporate recovery practice Inquesta has appointed Peter Connor as its business development manager. With over 25 years of experience, Connor, previously at firms like Begbies Traynor, joins amid a rise in corporate insolvencies. Steven Wiseglass, Inquesta’s director, highlights Connor’s reputation and connections, emphasising the need for innovative solutions during challenging times. Connor expresses excitement about the role amid increasing insolvency instructions.
