Armstrong Watson adds to its financial planning team

James Marlow  joins Armstrong Watson from HSBC where he led an advice team, coached and trained advisers and was ‘key’ to the development of its specialist pension transfer team

Armstrong Watson has revealed it has added an experienced financial planner to its specialised team.

James Marlow has been appointed as regional financial planning manager and will be based in Yorkshire.

Having worked in financial services for 19 years, the firm said Marlow has experience providing advice to businesses and individuals.

He joins Armstrong Watson from HSBC where he led an advice team, coached and trained advisers and was “key” to the development of its specialist pension transfer team. Prior to this, he worked as an independent financial adviser.

At Armstrong Watson Financial Planning he will work with MD Iain Lightfoot and head of Advice David Squire to add value and grow the business further, advising clients as well as supporting a team of the firms advisers.

Iain said: “James will be a huge asset to our team and will ensure we continue to help our clients achieve prosperity, a secure future and peace of mind.”

“His considerable expertise in providing both personalised financial advice to businesses and individuals, combined with his supervisory knowledge and skills, make him the perfect fit for Armstrong Watson. James complements the rest of the team we have been developing in Yorkshire to deliver great financial advice to more clients who value and need our help and support, particularly in relation to Retirement, Inheritance Tax and Investment planning.”

Marlow added: “I’m thrilled to join Armstrong Watson. From the very start, it’s clear to see it’s a growing business that continues to invest in its people with such a supportive framework, and despite Covid, the business has been dynamic and innovative in order to continue to thrive.

“I’ve been very impressed by the planning and onboarding and how willing everyone is to help, it’s got a great culture and feel to it and I’m looking forward to adding value and building on the existing success of the business.”
