Debapratim De has been appointed as chief economist at Deloitte UK, effective 1 June 2026.
De joined Deloitte 16 years ago as an economist, and was most recently director of economic research, where he helped shape the firm’s thinking on macroeconomics and the corporate sector.
He also advises clients on emerging economic and financial market themes, as well as being a regular commentator on economic and fiscal events in the media.
In his new role, De will expand the firm’s economic analysis of geopolitics, AI and energy markets as they transform the landscape for business.
He succeeds Ian Stewart, who is retiring after serving as Deloitte UK’s chief economist for 19 years.
De said: “I’m excited to be taking on the role of Deloitte UK’s chief economist as the global economy undergoes a profound transformation. I look forward to helping our clients navigate the major structural and cyclical shifts in the economy, and a new normal in uncertainty.
