Accountancy and advisory firm Cooper Parry has appointed Laura Burton as a partner to lead its global employer services and establish a new global mobility service line.
The move is intended to support organisations with international operations and cross-border workforces.
Based in the Leeds office, Burton has a national remit to advise businesses on employment tax and international compliance.
Her work includes managing international secondments, short-term business travel, and the tax implications for international remote workers.
Burton joins from BDO, where she spent four and a half years. She previously held roles at Deloitte for 16 years, bringing a total of more than two decades of experience to the firm.
The appointment follows several senior hires at the firm’s Leeds hub, including audit partner Liz Ross-Jones and transaction services partner Chulanga Jayawardana.
Cooper Parry is currently expanding its presence in the North of England as part of a wider growth strategy.
Burton said: “I was hugely attracted by the culture and ambition at Cooper Parry. The opportunity to build a service line that harnesses the power that today’s technology brings is very exciting. I am looking forward to growing the team across the UK and providing a key service to our clients across the country.”
Arif Ahmad, Regional market leader for Yorkshire and the North East, added: “Laura is a fantastic addition to our fast-growing Leeds team and we’re delighted she has chosen to join Cooper Parry. Her expertise significantly enhances our focus on ambitious mid-market and private equity backed businesses, particularly those navigating growth overseas and complex change.”
