Forvis Mazars has appointed James Abbott as an audit partner within its Manchester-based industry and services team to oversee assurance for listed and multinational companies.

Abbott joins the firm with 15 years of experience across the manufacturing, life sciences, gaming, and technology sectors.

His remit includes strengthening audit quality and developing high-performing teams to service the firm’s diverse sector portfolio.

In his new role, he will focus on expanding the Manchester audit practice and managing complex technical challenges for both privately owned businesses and those listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

The appointment precedes the firm’s scheduled move to a larger office space in Manchester to accommodate the growth of its regional audit division.

The expansion is part of a strategic investment in the North West, where the firm reports increased demand from large international businesses for statutory audit and assurance services.

According to the firm’s recent C-suite Barometer, 96% of executive leaders expect growth in the year ahead, contributing to the firm’s decision to increase senior-level capacity.

Abbott said: “James brings technical expertise, alongside experience leading audits for both multinational groups and privately owned businesses. His commitment to audit quality and collaborative leadership style make him an addition to our Manchester office and the wider audit practice.”

Greg Simpson, head of audit, added: “James’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for our audit team. His depth of technical understanding will strengthen our ability to support clients in the North West and across the UK. His appointment also reflects our confidence in the strength of the UK listed market.”
