HWB has announced it has promoted two team members to its board of directors, a move it said is aimed at supporting its strategic growth strategy.

Tom Young and Matt Cooper, both formerly associate directors at the Hampshire-based accountancy firm, headquartered in Chandler’s Ford, will now serve as full directors.

Both step into their new role as registered auditors, with the authority to sign audit reports as responsible individuals.

Young started out as a college trainee at HWB in Chandler’s Ford and achieved his chartered (ACA) qualification in 2012. Two years later, he stepped into a business adviser role.

In 2022, he was promoted to associate director, tasked with supporting clients across sectors and sizes including owner-managed businesses with a special focus on the property industry.

He offers companies pragmatic audit advice and services to strengthen business strategy, development and expansion

Cooper also became a chartered account while serving as an accounts and audit business adviser. After eight years in this role, he became an associate director in 2023.

He also has focused on owner-managed businesses, in the SME market across Hampshire and Dorset. Cooper is especially dedicated to education, charities, FCA-regulated firms and the construction and recruitment industries.

Commenting on his appointment, Young said: “I’m honoured to step into the role of a director and am very grateful to the board for their continued guidance and support throughout my time at HWB.”

HWB managing director Tracy Jenkins added: “Congratulations to Tom and Matt on their much-deserved promotions. As well as being fantastic colleagues, they both work exceptionally hard and, through their skills and expertise, deliver real value to our clients.

“I am thrilled they are now full directors at HWB and able to make an even stronger contribution to our growth and success. These internal promotions reflect HWB’s dedication to supporting career progression and nurturing future leaders. We continue to invest in our people, ensuring clients receive expert, consistent and trusted support across all areas of audit, accounting, tax and payroll.”
