Grant Thornton UK has announced the launch of a new advisory service for financial leaders, expanding its consulting offer as chief financial officers face growing operational and strategic demands.

The service, called CFO Solutions, is designed to provide tailored support to finance teams, with Grant Thornton saying it will adapt its approach to the size, sector and ambitions of individual organisations. The firm said the offering is intended to cover both strategic advice and hands-on operational support.

CFO Solutions is structured around Grant Thornton’s CFO Scorecard, which focuses on four areas of the chief financial officer role: value creation, stakeholder management, operational delivery and business protection. The framework is intended to help identify gaps and priorities within finance functions.

The service is split into five stages, which can be taken individually or combined. These include assessing the causes of operational or capability issues, designing solutions, implementing changes, running core finance operations through outsourcing or additional resourcing, and connecting finance leaders through events and peer networks.

According to the firm, the model is aimed at finance leaders in businesses of all sizes and sectors, reflecting what it described as increasing pressure on finance teams to deliver growth, manage risk and respond to regulatory and technological change.

The launch follows the recruitment of partner Sarah Hughes, who has been appointed as a key delivery lead for CFO Solutions, with a focus on financial reporting. Hughes joins from KPMG and has more than 25 years of experience advising on transactions, business decisions and regulatory change.

Hughes: “The CFO role has never been more pivotal, or more demanding. Finance leaders are expected to deliver growth, resilience, and transformation at speed, whilst also navigating unprecedented complexity. We believe CFOs deserve more than generic advice. They need a partner who can anticipate challenges, unlock opportunities, and help them lead with confidence.”

Simon Davidson, consulting partner at Grant Thornton UK, added: “Finance functions are evolving fast. Through our latest Finance Leaders Barometer, CFOs told us that forecasting, talent development, ESG reporting and AI adoption are all very high priorities for 2026. Yet with limited capacity, achieving these goals demands a new way of working.”

The CFO Solutions leadership team also includes partners Ros Murphy, Pinkesh Patel, Alex Mumford and Varun Dewan. Grant Thornton said the team brings together expertise across consulting, finance operations and reporting, with the aim of providing end-to-end support for finance functions.
