A York-based accountancy firm has launched a new specialist service aimed at helping local businesses, landlords and self-employed people comply with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
Mollan and Co said the service was introduced in response to growing uncertainty among taxpayers as HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) continues to expand digital tax reporting across the UK.
Making Tax Digital is a government programme designed to move the tax system towards digital record-keeping and reporting. It already applies to VAT-registered businesses and is being extended to Income Tax Self-Assessment in phases over the coming years.
The firm said it has seen an increase in enquiries from small businesses seeking help to understand what the changes mean for them and how to meet their obligations.
The new service covers MTD for VAT, Income Tax Self-Assessment and digital record-keeping. It combines the use of cloud accounting software with individual support from advisers.
Rob Mollan, founder and director of Mollan and Co, said: “Making Tax Digital is a big shift, and, understandably, people feel uncertain about what it means for them.
“We aim to provide straightforward guidance and practical support, so clients feel confident and in control rather than overwhelmed.”
Mollan and Co is based in York and works with a range of small businesses and individuals across the region.
