BK Plus has appointed David Meldrum as restructuring partner in Glasgow and promoted Christie Murphy to tax director as part of the expansion of its Scottish operations.

Meldrum, who has more than 18 years’ experience in personal and corporate restructuring, joins the firm with a background advising owner-managed and small and medium-sized businesses facing financial pressure.

His recent work has included restructuring assignments in the care, retail and hospitality sectors.

Meanwhile, Murphy, who has spent her entire career at BK Plus, works with owner-managed and SME businesses across Scotland, advising on a range of tax matters. Her promotion reflects her role supporting clients amid changes to tax rules and her contribution to the firm’s Glasgow practice.

The appointments form part of a broader expansion of BK Plus’s restructuring team across the UK.

Earlier this year, the firm appointed David Griffiths as partner and head of restructuring and Angela Paterson as a director in Dundee.

According to BK Plus, its Glasgow office has added 13 new staff during the past year, including partner- and director-level hires, managers and graduate recruits. The firm said the growth had been driven by increased client demand.

The business has offices across Scotland, including in Glasgow, Dundee, Perth, Pitlochry and Falkirk, with each location led by locally based teams.

Kenneth McEwen, managing partner in Glasgow, said: “It is fantastic to see the growth in our teams, both from experienced external appointments and internal promotions. These appointments strengthen our ability to meet client needs as we continue to grow.

“Christie brings a clear, steady approach that gives clients confidence. Her promotion reflects the impact she has already made with businesses across the region and the part she will play as we continue to grow our tax offering in Scotland. David is already a well regarded and experienced member of the restructuring community in Scotland, and we are delighted that he has joined our team at an exciting time for the firm.”
