Grant Thornton has expanded its tax leadership in the North West by appointing four internal partners, bringing the total number of tax partners in the region to seven.
The recent promotions include Marc Balshaw and Paul Atherton in corporation tax, Matt Foulger in innovation tax, and Davyd Fisher in employer solutions.
The appointments are part of 16 senior roles created across the region between 2025 and 2026. The firm aims to support a range of clients from entrepreneurial businesses to international groups.
The expanded team will focus on specialist areas including indirect tax and innovation incentives.
This follows further senior investment, with five directors recently appointed or promoted within the regional tax practice.
Jon Caren, Sophie Edwards, Matthew Dent, and Emily Humphreys were promoted to director.
Matt Walker also joined the firm as a real estate tax director to bolster the leadership group.
Grant Thornton recently announced plans to recruit 160 new partners nationally over the next two years. The firm currently employs over 5,000 people across the UK.
Hazel Platt, head of tax, said: “Our tax practice is built around depth of expertise and collaboration across specialist service lines. The recent partner promotions in the North West demonstrate how we are growing our capability and continuing to invest in the specialist knowledge our clients need. Marc, Paul, Matt and Davyd each bring valuable expertise that strengthens our offer in the region and nationally.”
