PwC has appointed Shaun Holmes as director in its UK restructuring practice.
Holmes joins the firm with almost 40 years’ experience across the financial markets, advising corporates, sponsors and lenders on restructurings, special situations, acquisition finance and recapitalisations.
PwC said he brings “deep expertise” in both advisory and principal investing roles, alongside long-standing relationships across both the banks and the private credit market.
Most recently, Holmes led the Stephens corporate finance business in London, advising mid-market clients on M&A, debt advisory and restructurings.
Previously he led the European Restructuring and Special Situations Group at Canaccord Genuity and spent more than 20 years at RBS where he was a managing director of the £1.1bn Special Opportunities Fund.
In his new role, Holmes will focus on advising boards, management teams, investors and lenders dealing with balance sheet stress, refinancing processes and complex stakeholder negotiations.
Mark Addley, head of restructuring at PwC, said: “Market conditions are creating a growing pipeline of stressed situations for corporates which requires us to support stakeholders to deliver complex restructurings and refinancings.
Shaun’s depth of experience, credibility with capital providers and proven track record across cycles will further enhance our ability to support clients through these challenges.”
Holmes added: “The current environment presents a compelling opportunity for experienced, independent advice. PwC’s breadth across the restructuring and wider deals market creates a powerful platform, and I’m excited to help clients address increasingly complex situations.”
