Grant Thornton UK has announced the appointment of 11 new partners across its tax, strategic advisory and audit teams in January 2026, following its deal with private equity firm Cinven which increased its capacity to invest and scale its operations.
The appointments form part of a wider growth strategy under which Grant Thornton UK plans to recruit around 160 partners over the next two years through a mix of internal promotions and external hires.
In 2025, the firm added more than 100 partners and directors following its transaction with Cinven.
About three-quarters of the appointments were internal promotions, according to the firm, reflecting what it described as the strength of its internal talent pipeline and development programmes.
Eight of the new partners joined the tax team. They are Jeremy Chapman, Thomas Clubb, Jono Clare, Matt Foulger, Edward Murphy, Kelly-Ann Preston, Rachel Stace and Douglas Tailby, based across London, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Bristol, Oxford and Leeds.
The firm also appointed two partners to its strategic advisory unit, with Nick Jones joining in Bristol and David Pike in London. Grant Thornton said Jones would focus on corporate finance advisory work, while Pike would strengthen its restructuring capability. In the audit team, Michael Green was appointed partner in Manchester.
Three of the newly promoted partners – Foulger, Jones and Clubb – began their careers at Grant Thornton UK and progressed through the firm’s early-careers pathway.
Malcolm Gomersall, chief executive of Grant Thornton UK, said: “We begin 2026 by welcoming eleven outstanding professionals to our partnership. These appointments reflect our belief in people and the power of opportunity.
“It is inspiring to see colleagues who started their careers with us reach partnership, and it speaks directly to our commitment to creating pathways for those who want to grow and lead.”
