Henderson Loggie has announced the appointment of Grant Snedden as the leader of its games and digital sector team.
The accountancy firm sees this latest appointment as “a strategic push”, having advised a number of well-known studios on financial strategy and tax incentives, where development timelines can stretch over several years before generating revenue, and where early-stage capital constraints are common.
According to recent data from the Scottish Games Network, Scotland is home to 484 game studios, alongside numerous tech and games-adjacent companies.
Nationally, the UK gaming market was valued at £7.63bn in 2024, with consumer spending reaching £7.6bn.
Snedden said: “The video games sector in Scotland has had a real impact both economically and culturally, and we want to see it continue to grow. We work closely with game studios to help them navigate tax reliefs, funding and provide practical support for the day-to-day challenges of running a business.
“I’m excited to build on our track record and help clients navigate the financial challenges of long development cycles and scaling globally.”
Kimberely Thomson, head of tax at Henderson Loggie, added: “Grant is already well known in the sector and is the right person for this job. He brings the right mix of sector insight and practical advice to the role and understands the nuances of the sector and the commercial realities studios face.
“He has developed strong relationships across the industry and his leadership ensures continuity for our clients, reinforcing our commitment to the sector.”
Henderson Loggie intends to grow its presence in the UK games sector to become a “leading” financial advisor for game developers, assisting them with production timelines, tax regulations, and securing growth capital.
