Cooper Parry has advised on the sale of County Garage (Barnstaple) Limited, a third-generation family dealership in North Devon, to South-West motor group, Vospers, for an undisclosed sum.

County Garage, a multi-franchise dealership based in Barnstaple, is widely regarded as one of the “leading” dealerships in the region.

The acquisition marks a strategic expansion for Vospers, broadening its reach and presence in the South-West.

The deal was led by David Kendrick, Corporate Finance Partner and the Cooper Parry Automotive Team, with legal advice delivered by Cooper Parry Law – guiding County Garage’s shareholders through every step of the process.

Emily Waterhouse, head of Cooper Parry Law said: “It was a real pleasure to work on the sale of County Garage. Working alongside our colleagues in Cooper Parry Deals, we were able to provide a joined-up, seamless service that aligned both the legal and financial aspects of the transaction.

“That close collaboration meant we could respond quickly, navigate challenges efficiently, and ultimately help get the deal over the line in a way that truly supported the client’s goals.”

Nick Vosper, managing director at Vospers, added: “The acquisition of County Garages represents a major milestone in our long-term growth strategy. We are fortunate this opportunity arose in the Barnstaple area and delighted to welcome this outstanding business and its excellent team into the Vospers family. County Garages will bring new and an excellent foundation to expand our footprint in Devon and Cornwall.”

Nick Williams of County Garage, concluded: “I am very pleased to have concluded a deal with Vospers who have similar family values to the County Garage business. I have no doubts that they will continue the success that the business has managed to achieve over many years.”
