PKF Littlejohn Advisory has appointed haulage specialist Ian Jones as a consultant, strengthening its Manchester office and expanding its advisory capability in the logistics and transport sector.
Jones, who co-founded legal advisory practice Backhouse Jones in 2000, brings around 30 years’ experience advising operators across the commercial road transport and haulage industry.
In his new role, he will focus on developing relationships with key organisations in the sector and supporting clients facing operational and financial challenges.
A former solicitor, Jones has held a number of senior industry positions, including vice-chair of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, council member and chair of the suppliers committee at the Confederation of Passenger Transport, and membership of the All-Party Parliamentary Road Passenger Transport Group.
More recently, his work has focused on net zero and decarbonisation, areas of increasing importance for haulage operators as they respond to regulatory and cost pressures.
Jones will be based at PKF Littlejohn Advisory’s Manchester office.
He said: “Those operating in the haulage sector are facing a multitude of challenges in both the long and short term. It is imperative that companies focus on the here and now. As part of my role, I’ll be meeting with key industry stakeholders to better understand their concerns and to help them prepare for the next 12 months and beyond.”
Paul Williams, partner and national head at PKF Littlejohn Advisory, added: “Ian brings a wealth of experience in operational and financial recovery, having immersed himself in the haulage and logistics industry. His appointment further demonstrates our commitment to delivering solutions and services across a broad range of sectors.”
Paul Smith, partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory, concluded: “Over the past six months we’ve expanded our Manchester team, both in terms of numbers and experience. The addition of Ian will allow us to better support firms in the transportation industry as they navigate sector-specific challenges.”
