HW Fisher, part of the Sumer Group, has appointed Chris Wheeler as partner in its forensic services team, enhancing the firm’s investigative and litigation support capabilities.

A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and an accredited counter fraud specialist, Wheeler brings more than 25 years’ experience in financial investigations arising from fraud, error and mismanagement.

He joins from UK law firm DWF, where he was partner and head of forensic accounting, supporting litigators, insurance lawyers and regulatory investigators across sectors including financial services, technology, healthcare, energy, real estate and consumer industries.

He has previously led forensic teams at KPMG, BDO and Pinsent Masons.

Wheeler specialises in advising commercial litigators on damages quantification, expert reporting and settlement advice, including the use of decision-tree analysis to assess the likely costs and benefits of different legal scenarios.

He said: “Businesses of all sizes are facing heightened financial pressures, increased regulatory scrutiny and a rise in disputes and fraud. The need for high-quality but commercially priced forensic advice has never been greater. I’m delighted to join HW Fisher and the Sumer Group and look forward to supporting clients and helping to grow the team.”

Andy Rich, managing partner at HW Fisher, added: “We are delighted to welcome Chris. His expertise in forensic accounting and fraud investigation, combined with his proven track record of supporting complex commercial litigation, will be invaluable as we expand our forensic capabilities.”

Rafi Saville, partner and head of forensic at HW Fisher, concluded: “Chris’s depth of experience in investigations, fraud and litigation support adds real strength to our team. His appointment enhances our ability to provide comprehensive forensic advice across valuations, negligence cases, royalty audits and more. We’re excited to see the impact he will make as we grow the practice further.”
