Accountancy and advisory firm Clive Owen is continuing its expansion in the North East by investing in new offices in Newcastle city centre.
The firm has relocated its Newcastle team to Gainsborough House, as it continues to expand its office, which was launched in October 2024 at The Spire. Opening with a single member of staff, the office has rapidly expanded to a team of 13, reflecting the increased demand for the firm’s services across the region.
The move to Grey Street provides the firm with what they have described as a “larger, more prominent base in a recognised commercial location”, supporting the firm’s ability to serve clients across a range of sectors.
Led by Stephen Harris, the Newcastle office provides a full accountancy and advisory service including audit, corporate and private client tax, consulting, VAT and corporate finance.
Newcastle is supported by a senior team, including partner Chris Tindle, VAT partner Hydeam Sulton, and Suzanne Layfield, whose addition has strengthened the firm’s audit offering, alongside Liz Rothery and Brad Haywood.
The investment comes as Clive Owen plans for wider strategic growth across the North of England, with the firm already operating in Darlington, Durham, Middlesbrough and York.
Harris said: “Our growth in Newcastle has exceeded expectations since opening in 2024. What started with a skeleton team has quickly developed into a strong and ambitious office serving clients across the region.
“The move to Grey Street is a significant milestone for the firm and a clear statement of intent. Newcastle is an important business hub, and we are committed to continuing to invest in the city, our people, and the services we provide.”
Simon Hook, managing partner at Clive Owen , added: “Newcastle has been a fantastic success story for the firm in a relatively short period of time. The growth of the team demonstrates both the strength of the market and the calibre of the people we have in place there.
“This investment reflects our confidence in the North East economy and our ambition to continue building a strong presence in Newcastle. Having a senior team based in the city gives us an excellent platform for further growth and enables us to offer an even broader range of specialist expertise to clients across the region.”
