S&W has appointed James Wright as a partner in its Birmingham-based business tax team to advise UK and multinational corporate clients.

Wright joins the firm to manage a portfolio covering corporate structuring, international tax, transactions, and compliance

His background involves advising organisations on commercial and regulatory changes across multiple sectors. The appointment is part of a regional expansion strategy for S&W’s Midlands operation.

In his new role, Wright will focus on navigating international tax changes and supporting corporate restructuring for high-profile clients.

Based in the Birmingham office, he will work alongside the national business tax division to coordinate services for domestic and international businesses.

The move follows a period of growth for S&W, which has been increasing its technical headcount across its UK regional hubs to address evolving tax landscapes and transactional demand.

Wright said: “I’m joining S&W at a time of growth for the firm. Throughout my career I’ve focused on helping businesses tackle their most significant tax challenges, from navigating international tax changes to supporting major transactions and restructuring. S&W’s ambition and collaborative culture resonated with me, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm.”

Stephen Drew, regional managing partner at S&W, added: “James will be an addition to our growing presence in the Midlands. His technical expertise and ability to work closely with clients on complex tax matters aligns with our ambition to strengthen the services we provide across the region. I’m looking forward to working with James as he joins us in our Birmingham office.”

Mark Webb, head of business tax at S&W, concluded: “James is an addition to our business tax team in Birmingham. His technical expertise, combined with his experience working with complex and high-profile clients, strengthens our ability to support businesses across the UK and internationally. We welcome him to S&W and look forward to the contribution he will make to our clients.”
