Grant Thornton UK has appointed Abigail Fisher to the newly created role of chief people officer.
Fisher, who will join the firm’s strategic leadership team in late February, returns to the business after 12 years at Eversheds Sutherland, where she most recently served as HR director.
Her 20-year career includes extensive experience in organisational transformation and human resources across UK and international markets.
The appointment follows the recent investment in Grant Thornton by international private equity firm Cinven.
In her new role, Fisher will be responsible for the firm’s people strategy and culture, focusing on diversity, inclusion, and professional development.
Reporting directly to the chief executive, she joins the executive management body responsible for the firm’s day-to-day operations.
The move comes amid a wider expansion of the firm’s leadership, including the recent appointment of Chris Stefani as chief financial officer.
Grant Thornton has also announced plans to recruit 160 partners over the next two years to support its growth strategy.
Abigail Fisher, chief people officer at Grant Thornton UK, said: “I’m thrilled to be returning to Grant Thornton, a firm that has always held a special place in my career. This is an exciting time of growth and transformation.
“I look forward to working with our talented teams to create an inclusive, high-performance culture where everyone can thrive.”
Malcolm Gomersall, chief executive of Grant Thornton UK, said: “Abigail’s appointment marks an important step in our journey to strengthen our culture and further enhance our people’s experience.
“Her experience and passion for people will help us build on what makes Grant Thornton a great place to work while modernising our operations to meet our clients’ evolving needs.”
