Hillier Hopkins has been certified as a B Corporation (B Corp), joining the network of companies assessed for meeting standards on social and environmental performance, openness and governance.

The accounting firm, which is ranked among the UK’s top 50 accounting practices, said the accreditation marks a step in its efforts to balance commercial aims with wider responsibilities.

The firm said the assessment considered its use of the Investors in People framework, which guides its approach to employee support and training. Staff involvement in voluntary, fundraising and pro bono work also formed part of the submission, alongside moves to reduce environmental impact through paperless systems, recycling and updated procurement policies.

Alex Bottom, managing principal at Hillier Hopkins, said: “Becoming a B Corp is not the end of the journey but rather a commitment to continuous improvement. This certification reflects our belief that business can and should be a force for good, helping our clients, our people, and our planet to prosper together.”

Katie Harvard Taylor, principal at Hillier Hopkins, who chairs the firm’s sustainability team, added: “We’re excited to continue working collaboratively to make a positive difference in our profession, our communities, and our world.”

B Corp certification is awarded by non-profit body B Lab. Companies are evaluated across governance, worker policies, community contribution and environmental impact, with reassessments required to keep accreditation.

Hillier Hopkins said the standard offers a framework for ongoing improvements as it develops its sustainability strategy.
