Interpath Advisory has been appointed administrator of Stirling-based aquaculture company Aqualife Services, which ceased trading ahead of entering administration.
Alistair McAlinden and Geoff Jacobs of Interpath were appointed joint administrators of Aqualife earlier this week (Wednesday 6 August). All employees were made redundant upon their appointment.
Founded in 1996, Aqualife specialised in fish vaccination services for UK and international aquaculture operators, including salmon farmers. In recent years, the business adopted spider-like robotic technology and began outsourcing assembly to improve scalability.
However, delays to key orders from Canadian customers and growing financial pressures – amid uncertainty over international tariffs – contributed to its collapse.
McAlinden, head of Scotland at Interpath, said: “Aqualife was a pioneer in the use of robotic technology in aquaculture and fish vaccination. It had built a strong reputation for precision and innovation. Unfortunately, the business faced a number of challenges in recent years, including delays to key contracts and increasing financial pressures.”
Jacobs, managing director at Interpath, said the focus would now be on supporting affected staff and pursuing a sale of the business and its assets.
