Consilium Chartered Accountants has provided corporate finance advisory and tax advisory services to AGR Hospitality (Stirling) Limited in its acquisition of the historic Golden Lion Hotel in Stirling, Scotland.
Continuing a long-standing partnership between the firm and AGR Hospitality, Consilium advised managing director Gary Atkinson on the purchase of the 240-year-old, 66-bedroom property.
Consilium’s team was led by corporate finance partner John Blair, tax partner Craig Coyle, and business services associate director Martin Kerr.
Located just minutes from Stirling Castle, the Golden Lion Hotel is the oldest building on King Street and is said to have been frequented by Robert Burns. The property also features a 250-seat ballroom and extensive meeting room facilities.
Atkinson said: “Consilium has always felt like a part of our business and not just our accountants. Their advice and insight have always been invaluable, and I look forward to continuing the relationship as we open this exciting new chapter for AGR Hospitality.”
Blair added: “We are delighted to have advised Gary on this transaction. He is a fantastic operator, and we look forward to supporting him and his team as they take the historic Golden Lion business forward.”
Glasgow-based Consilium will also support AGR with accounting and outsourced payroll services post-deal.
