James Cowper Kreston has announced the appointment of Alan Poole as the firm’s new chair, effective from 1 October 2024.

Poole succeeds Sharon Bedford, who is stepping down following the completion of her four-year term.

He has been with the firm for 14 years as a partner in the audit team.

Poole said: “I am thrilled to take on this new responsibility. James Cowper Kreston is made up of a talented group of partners and staff, all dedicated to supporting our clients and professional contacts. I look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of the firm.”

Alex Peal and Sue Staunton, managing partners, added: “We’d like to thank Sharon for her significant contribution to the role of chair over the length of her term. She has not only served as a strong figurehead in the market but also provided valuable guidance within the firm and led our partners’ meetings. Sharon will continue in her role as a partner within our business tax team.

“Alan’s long-standing experience and understanding of the firm’s culture make him an excellent choice for this position to continue as a leading representative for James Cowper Kreston across our regions.”
