Haysmacintyre has announced the appointment of Majid Hussain to the role of partner and the firm’s new head of private client, effective from Monday 15 July.

This latest appointment continues a strong period of growth for the firm, which has appointed and promoted seven new partners over the last 18 months.

Hussain joins Haysmacintyre from Evelyn Partners, where he was a partner. The firm said he will bring a “wealth of experience” across all areas of private client tax.

Both a qualified tax advisor and barrister, Hussain previously held roles at BDO, Deloitte and KPMG, and has particular expertise in advising international families with complex overseas structures, with former clients including private equity executives, professional sportspeople, leading entrepreneurs, and family offices.

Hussain will take over the role of head of private client from Katharine Arthur, who successfully led the department for 11 years, and co-head of private client, Andrew Broome.

Both Arthur and Broome will remain prominent partners in the private client team, and will continue to work closely with Hussain in his new role, which will see him lead the team and further expand the department’s service lines.

Hussain said: “I am delighted to be joining Haysmacintyre as head of private client at what is an exciting time for growth at the firm. The team’s reputation for client service speaks for itself and it was no surprise to see the firm recognised as one of The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work for 2024.

“At a time where there is so much uncertainty around the UK tax system, including with the non-domiciled regime, there will of course be challenges ahead for many private clients and international families. I look forward to tackling these issues with a team that excels at providing proactive solutions for clients, both in the current, evolving landscape and in future.”

Natasha Frangos, managing partner at Haysmacintyre, added: “We are very excited to have Majid joining the firm. New leadership helps to inject fresh thinking and energy, supporting our aim to continuously improve and evolve haysmacintyre’s offering across all service lines and sectors.

“Majid brings with him hugely valuable experience and I am confident he will help the private client team continue to build on its excellent track record. I would also like to thank Katharine and Andrew for their service and ongoing support. I’m sure they will continue to play an influential role as the private client team expands at Haysmacintyre.”
