Metro Bank has announced the appointment of Kathryn Newman as its new chief internal auditor, effective from later this summer.
Newman will replace Chit Ghee Yeoh who will remain with Metro Bank as director of colleague experience and inclusion.
She will join the bank from Nationwide Building Society where she has held a number of senior audit positions since 2014, most recently as audit director.
Prior to joining Nationwide, she also worked at RWE npower for over 10 years in senior audit and finance roles.
In her new role at Metro Bank, Newman will work closely with the board to provide independent assurance to both the board and the CEO that core processes and controls are operating as expected.
As part of her appointment, Newman will also sit on the executive committee and will report to the CEO and the audit committee chair.
Newman said: “I’m very excited to join Metro Bank. I’ve been particularly impressed by the culture and people I’ve met so far, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Dan Frumkin, CEO of Metro Bank, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Kathryn to Metro Bank. As we move to the next stage of our growth it is critical that we maintain and evolve our audit function. Kathryn is ideally placed to do that and I know she will fit in superbly as we continue our ambition to be the number one community bank.”
