R3 names Caroline Summer as its new CEO

She will assume the position from the outgoing Liz Bingham, who will continue to serve on the senior team after acting as interim CEO for 15 months

R3, the insolvency and restructuring trade body, has named Caroline Summer as the next group CEO.

Effective 1 June 2021, Summer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the body’s work, including working alongside the association’s senior team and executive committee to deliver its strategy for the future.

She will assume the position from the outgoing Liz Bingham, who will continue to serve on the senior team after acting as interim CEO for 15 months.

Colin Haig, president of R3 and head of restructuring at Azets, said: “Caroline has driven a number of R3’s major initiatives over the last five years and has extensive experience in the profession, as well as in the legislative and technical aspects of R3’s work to support it.

“These qualities made her the stand-out candidate during the recruitment process we carried out to find a new CEO.”

He added that the addition builds on the work that helped the association “evolve last year”, further supporting both “the profession and the people in it”.

Summer recognised the “pivotal” timing of her appointment, as both businesses and individuals look to the industry for support following the “economic damage” caused by the pandemic.

She said: “I’m determined to ensure R3 continues to promote the profession and its work, and provide our members with the support they need to do what they do best: help individuals and directors who are struggling financially, rescue businesses and jobs, and create the confidence people need to lend and invest.”
