Chartered accountants Shaw Gibbs has welcomed five new starters: Abby Potter, Luke Brazier, Jacob Thomas-Watts Mamata Maden and James Painter to the firm.

Potter, a trainee in the compliance team is a mathematics graduate who has been working for the past year as an accounts payable assistant at Diamond Light Source.

Brazier, a trainee in the outsourcing team recently finished his A levels before joining the firm.

Thomas-Watts joins as a trainee in compliance from Hays Recruitment where he has been working over the past two years in their accountancy and finance division. Maden joins the firm’s audit team, having previously worked within the audit division of a Big Four firm.

The new additions joined the firm on 2 September.

Additionally, Painter has taken over the role of head of tax, he has over 13 years of experience in tax which includes working with owner-managers helping them to structure their business for tax optimisation, business acquisition and disposal and cross border and international tax issues.

He will be leading and growing the Shaw Gibbs combined personal and corporate tax teams across Oxford and London, splitting his time between the two Shaw Gibbs offices.
