Garbutt + Elliot appoints new partner to its audit team

Yorkshire accountancy firm Garbutt and Elliott has appointed Chris Butt as its new audit partner.

According to the firm, the appointment of Butt, following the recent appointment of a new tax partner in March, demonstrates its ongoing commitment to provide the “highest level” of advice and support to its clients.

Butt joins Garbutt and Elliott after nearly 15 years with KPMG where he delivered audit and related services to some of Yorkshire’s major public and privately-owned businesses, from family and owner-managed to private equity backed and Listed companies.

The firm’s audit service has grown over 10% annually for the last three years and now boasts a 33-strong team, including a dedicated team of data specialists. The department has experience across all sectors with specialisms in manufacturing, construction, charities, food and drink, and technology.

Russell Turner, managing partner, said: “I’m delighted to welcome our new audit partner, Chris Butt, to Garbutt and Elliott. He is a highly regarded and experienced auditor having worked with family owned businesses, SME’s and companies listed on the FTSE and AIM markets.

“Chris is totally focused on delivering the best service for his clients, has a genuine enthusiasm for what he does, and takes an uncomplicated approach to getting things done. His values and attitude are perfectly aligned with what Garbutt and Elliott stands for and Chris’ appointment highlights our ongoing commitment to recruit the highest quality specialists for our clients.”

Butt added: “I’m thrilled to have joined a value led, ambitious and growing firm working with a dynamic array of clients. Yorkshire has a wealth of businesses of all sizes and is full of exciting and interesting opportunities.

“I was impressed with the quality of the people and the culture from the early stages of my appointment process and I am looking forward to being part of a team driven by shared success, within Yorkshire and beyond.”
