Townends Accountants appoints new partner

Chartered accountancy firm Townends Accountants has appointed Hayley Hudson as a new partner at its York office, following 11 years with the firm.

Hudson joined Townends as a trainee accountant in 2008 straight after sitting her GCSEs and went on to complete her AAT, ATT and ACA training, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2015.

Over the past decade at Townends, she has seen a number of significant changes, including the firm’s expansion into new larger offices, currently spanning three locations; development into specialist sectors, such as agriculture, doctors and dentists; and growing staff and client numbers.

Hudson said: “I remember being nervous about starting my role here but from day one it was clear Townends has a unique approach to acting for family run businesses. This is reflected in its invested approach to supporting staff both in developing them as members of the team and as professionals.

“I am proud to be part of this successful firm. It’s great to be able to mentor the next generation of trainees and see them succeed. I am excited to see what challenges this new role brings and to work with clients both old and new.”

Jeff Williamson, a partner at Townends, added: “Hayley’s story is a terrific example of how the opportunities for progression at Townends can be realised for those who have a strong desire to do so, as Hayley has. We are very pleased to have Hayley as a partner at our York office, her strategic approach and excellent client handling skills are an asset to the business and we wish her every success.”

Townends’ services range from accounting and tax compliance through to more technical and strategic planning on behalf of a wide range of clients, some of which are familiar household names.
