Abacus Worldwide, the international accounting and law firm association, has named Debbie Atkins as its EMEA regional director.

Based in Scotland, Atkins will be tasked with overseeing the area which contains 46 firms across 25 countries.

She will focus on membership recruitment and retention, membership engagement, and member referrals and collaboration.

Julio Gabay, president and CEO at the organisation, said that Atkins’ addition “completes” the association’s management team as it continues to “grow globally”.

He added: “We are excited to have Debbie coming on board to lead our growth and strategic initiatives in the region.

“Her background working with other membership organizations as well as her  legal training makes her particularly suited to serve our members in that region.”

Atkins founded Cairnwood Consulting, and has most recently served as head of engagement for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in Edinburgh.

She has also acted as director of client relationship management and business development at Tods Murray and director of marketing and business development at Morton Fraser.
