EY appoints first Japanese female chair

EY has announced that its Japanese arm has appointed Masami Katakura, who will become the first woman to chair any “major mid-sized audit corporation” in Japan.

Katakura previously worked with the Ota Showa Audit Corporation, now owned by EY Japan, and having worked as a senior partner EY ShinNihon Audit Corporation since 2011. EY ShinNihon, where Katakura will become chair, has 17 offices in Japan, 42 international offices, 564 partners and employs 4,835 staff members, forming part of EY’s global network.

The new chair will take up her role from 1 July following a general meeting which will see the position finalised. Koichi Tsuji, who previously held the role will go on to lead parent company, EY Japan.
