S&W has appointed Ed Gibson as a partner in its business tax practice in Manchester

Gibson is an international tax specialist with 25 years of experience advising companies on international expansion, cross-border financing, and business restructuring. His client base includes scale-up enterprises and listed businesses with global operations.

Prior to joining S&W, Gibson spent four years at BDO as an international tax partner. Before that, he spent 20 years at Deloitte, including five years as a partner.

The appointment follows the recent relocation of the S&W Manchester office to new premises at Pall Mall, King Street, in the city centre. The move doubles the firm’s space in the city to support growth.

Gibson said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining S&W and I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm to deliver practical, high-quality advice to our clients that helps them to achieve their ambitions.

“Despite economic headwinds, operating internationally continues to present a source of growth and opportunity for businesses and I will be focused on helping clients unlock those opportunities while navigating the increasingly complex tax and regulatory landscape.”

North regional managing partner, Donna Bulmer, added: “Ed’s appointment is a fantastic addition to our team and further strengthens our offering across Manchester and the north. His international tax expertise, combined with his commercially focused approach, will be invaluable as we continue to support clients navigating cross-border growth and increasing complexity.”

Head of business tax, Mark Webb, concluded: “Ed brings extensive international tax expertise and a strong track record of advising businesses across a wide range of sectors and growth stages.

“His experience supporting clients with international expansion and complex cross-border matters will be invaluable as we continue to grow our business tax practice and support clients operating in an increasingly global environment. We are delighted to welcome Ed to S&W.”
