Bishop Fleming has announced the appointment of three new partners – James Taylor, Mark Taylor and Tim Thackaberry – to its Birmingham office, as the firm aims to expand its regional presence and specialist service offerings.

The appointments increase the firm’s local partner count to eight, while the Birmingham team has grown to nearly 30 staff members since the office launched at Colmore Row just over a year ago.

Audit partner James Taylor will lead the firm’s not-for-profit audit operations, and valuations partner Tim Thackaberry joins the advisory team in a newly-created role to support tax and financial reporting.

Additionally, Birmingham office lead Mark Taylor has joined the partnership. He was previously engaged in a consultancy capacity to help establish the office following his tenure as regional managing partner at RSM.

James Taylor brings over 15 years of experience in auditing charities, social housing, and educational institutions. He previously held director and senior management positions at BDO and Cooper Parry.

Thackaberry joins with more than 20 years of experience in forensic accounting and valuations. He previously held senior roles at BDO, Mazars, and Azets, focusing on the small and medium-sized enterprise and mid-market sectors.

James Taylor said: “Bishop Fleming’s commitment to social mobility and fundraising and its ambitious growth plans made it a natural choice for this stage of my career. I’m looking forward to meeting clients and colleagues, as while advances in technology and AI drive efficiency, audit remains fundamentally a people-focused profession.”

Thackaberry added: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Bishop Fleming and its growing Birmingham office to strengthen its specialist valuation services. The firm has a strong reputation for the quality of service it provides, its people and as a place to work. I’m looking forward to supporting our clients throughout their business lifecycle with advisory services that deliver real value.”

Mark Taylor said: “It’s been a privilege to help launch something new to the West Midlands market over the last 15 months. My appointment as a partner cements my ambition to continue that journey with Bishop Fleming and continue building something fresh in the mid-market space. I am excited for what the future holds for our business.”
