Deloitte has appointed Jane Whitlock as chair of its UK board following a confirmatory vote by the firm’s partners.

Whitlock will succeed to the role on 1 June, working alongside Darren Graves, the newly appointed chief executive.

Whitlock is currently a partner in audit and assurance and previously served as the Midlands practice senior partner.

Her career has focused on large-scale clients within the retail and energy sectors, and she has held various leadership roles including talent lead for the Midlands.

Since 2022, Whitlock has held multiple governance positions, including a seat on the Deloitte North and South Europe board.

She has also served as chair of the audit and risk committee and was a member of the UK oversight board and audit governance board.

Nine partners have been elected as board members to serve alongside Whitlock, including Pauline Biddle, Jane Boardman, and James Byles.

The board will also include four non-voting independent non-executives to oversee firm accountability and stewardship.

Whitlock said: “I am honoured to join the UK board as chair and look forward to working with Darren Graves as our newly appointed CEO, leading an effective and inclusive board that balances challenge and support to the executive. I am committed to providing the highest standards of stewardship, oversight and accountability for Deloitte UK.”

Cindy Chan, chair of the Deloitte UK nominations committee, added: “I am pleased to confirm Jane Whitlock as chair of Deloitte UK. She brings a wealth of experience in governance roles and will be instrumental in continuing to ensure the robust governance of our firm.”
