Monahans has promoted Joel Haft to partner as of 2 March 2026, tasking the former head of internal audit with expanding the firm’s governance services.
Haft joined the South West-based firm, a member of the Sumer Group, in July 2025 as head of internal audit, risk, and governance.
His career includes 12 years of experience at Mazars and in-house leadership roles at Octopus Investments and SS&C Technologies.
He also previously established the internal audit function for a cryptocurrency start-up.
In his new role, Haft will focus on developing bespoke risk and control frameworks for a diverse client base.
His remit includes implementing industry best practices within the firm’s audit function to address evolving regulatory requirements and corporate governance standards.
The promotion follows a period of growth for the firm’s specialist audit services. Management has indicated that the expansion of the partner group is intended to strengthen the firm’s capacity as a strategic adviser to complex businesses and niche sectors.
Haft said: “Working across various clients of all shapes and sizes means we need to listen and be receptive. I love working with decision makers to be able to drive change and seeing when clients see the value in the work we do and come to us as a strategic adviser because they welcome a fresh pair of eyes from a different lens.”
Simon Tombs, managing partner at Monahans, added: “Joel has proven to be an addition to this team. His expertise in some of the more niche areas of audit made him an addition to Monahans and clients see the value in what he does for them. In his new role as partner he will continue to excel and we wish him the very best for the future.”
