Within the corporate tax team, Adam Zaman has been promoted to corporate tax director, while Matt Doherty and Nick Skidmore have been appointed senior corporate tax managers. All three joined the firm in 2024 and are based across its regional offices.

The business recovery and restructuring team has promoted Kieran Marshall to senior manager and Keith Wilson to manager. Elsewhere in the firm, Joe Anderson has been promoted to corporate finance manager, Deniss Sipovics to senior transaction and advisory services manager, Tony Chamberlain to senior VAT and indirect taxes manager, and Lee Arrowsmith to senior audit manager.

In audit, Tom Ainsworth and Georgie Atherton have been promoted to manager. The department has also made six promotions to assistant manager, with those staff having trained and qualified at the firm.

The promotions follow a year in which PKF Smith Cooper received 12 award nominations across the Midlands. The firm won accountancy employer of the year at the West Midlands Business Hero Awards and was a finalist at the Insider Midlands Dealmakers Awards for corporate finance team of the year and dealmaker of the year.

Individuals from the business services and audit teams were also recognised at the NCASS Awards. Elsie Walsh received the John Ross Sergeant Memorial Prize, while Matt Laurenti won the ICAEW 2024/25 Howitt Prize.

Emma Lesley, learning and development manager at PKF Smith Cooper, said: “I’m thrilled to support our recently promoted team members as they take on their new roles and continue their growth within the firm. It’s incredibly rewarding to know our learning and development team plays a key role in helping team members achieve their aspirations.”

James Bagley, managing partner, added: “The latest cohort of promotions serves as a testament to the exceptional talent and professionalism across the firm. Congratulations to all those assuming new responsibilities, and I look forward to witnessing their continued success in these roles.”
